Upon first meeting him, he had a very pleasant manner and did his best to put me at my ease, knowing how worried and frightened I was. He explained everything to me and was very open to answering any questions I had. After the initial consultation I required a procedure in hospital and he made it all happen very quickly, being very mindful and aware of my anxiety. He was very clear on what it all entailed and put me at my ease as soon as he could and I was awake! When I saw him for a follow up appointment, he was again very informative and took his time. At no time did I feel rushed and nothing was too much trouble to explain. If my problem returned I wouldn't hesitate in seeing him again, indeed, I would readily recommend him to friends or family if the need arose. He is the only consultant I've met (and unfortunately I've seen a few recently), who within the first few seconds of meeting him smiled, shook my hand and said please call me Matthew. That in itself helped put me at my ease.

I first saw Mr Trotter at Good Hope NHS Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, unfortunately he no longer holds a clinic there and I have since seen him at Heartlands and most recently Solihull Hospital which are all in the same Trust. Our meetings have been over about 10 years and he has operated on me under general anesthetic. I find him to be most approachable and he has a great manner friendly yet professional. I have had treatment for Hearing problems over the last 20 years and have had Grommets and later Tympanostomy tubes inserted on a number of occasions. I found it interesting that many parents review him as being good with children, well he aint bad with old guys either! When I complained of another hearing problem recently, he offered to insert a T-Tube under a local anesthetic and explained that it might be painful. I thought he was joking! This was to save me going on a waiting list and having the work done in the Outpatients Clinic. I had told him that I was desperate and the procedure turned out to be no more painful than a visit to the dentist, quickly completed and I was soon over the anesthetic. Totally recommended. This specialist with assistance from his nurse Jenny looked after me admirably. Recommended without reservation.

Matthew Trotter was amazing. He is a breath of fresh air, and in this busy society of ours, it really was an enjoyable and straight forward experience. He took the time to reassure us of the procedure, and would answer as many questions we put to him.. We never felt hurried and felt special in his company. Matthew Trotter is very competent and has made a huge difference in the quality of my daughters life.. I would absolutely recommend Mr Trotter!

Matthew operated on my 6yr old son. He was calm, reassuring, not only to me but to my son also. We were seen and treated very quickly. He was up front about the risks associated with the procedure and what to look out for in the weeks/months following. He used visual aids and diagrams to explain what the problem was, where the problem was and what he would be doing to rectify it. He was thorough enough to carry out a hearing test before and we have a follow up hearing test in the next few weeks. The op itself was an instant success and my son came round in 20 minutes and had his hearing restored. A totally different child! The follow up after the procedure my son got to see the grommet inserted into his ear by way of a photograph taken by Matthew. I have to say that was the highlight for him and he understood exactly what was making him hear better. Very professional, reassuring, and although considered a relatively simple and routine procedure - I have to say I'm glad it was Matthew that carried it out.

Mr Trotters laid back, happy, confident approach to my surgery was what i needed from him,I couldn't have been more scared, 44 years old, other than having a baby, never been in hospital. The results were superb, as a scuba diver I needed the knowledge he provided. I felt very comfortable in his company and if anybody wants to ask me about it, feel free. janewood7@sky.com
